Cake Wrecks is a blog I follow daily. It showcases professionally made cakes, by real bakers, that have gone horribly wrong. Usually, there's a theme, especially when they present a whole series of cakes. Today, there was definitely an Ozzy theme to the presentation. You have been warned!

Oz Dessert of the Year (So Far)
I know I've talked about Cake Wrecks here before. That's the site that shows off weird or mishandled or otherwise not-quite-right professionally decorated cakes. And I know I've also had some of Jen's Sunday Sweets here before. So why do I bring this up? Because today's Sunday, and there's a new Oz cake in today's column, that's why. (Good grief, I've been doing this blog long enough, I suspect most of you know what it's about by now, and that I'd include only one hundred percent grade A prime Oz content.) The rest of those cakes are pretty sweet, too, in more ways than one.

Let them eat cake!
Why doesn't anybody keep me up to date on these things? It turns out that last week was National Library Week. Ah, well, what better way to celebrate (a day late) than with...cake? Over at the always entertaining Cake Wrecks blog, today's Sunday Sweets celebrates books. So go take a look, scroll down, and see why I linked to that post. Pretty sweet, huh? But the angle leaves something to be desired, so I went ahead and looked at the baker's Flickr set to see if there were more pictures. Sure enough, here's the cake as a work-in-progress, along with the Dick Martin poster that inspired it.

Oz in cake!
One of my favorite blogs to check out every day is Cake Wrecks, which showcases bad or weird or just plain inexplicable, professionally-made cakes. It's pretty funny, and Jen, who runs the joint, always has a great spin on how to present it. However, she also balances the bad with the good in her weekly Sunday Sweets column, showing how to do cakes right. Well, yesterday's was a movie-themed column, and I'll bet you can guess one movie that was highlighted. (Otherwise, why would I be telling you this?) So Go take a look, and if you're just impatient to get to Oz, scroll down to the fifth picture. If you're more patient, read them all and enjoy the trip.

The Cake Wrecks of Oz
One of my favorite blogs that (usually) has nothing to do with Oz is Cake Wrecks, which documents in a wonderfully snarky way the horrors of professionally produced cakes that are inaccurate, misleading, wrong, or otherwise just plain bad. But I came to the party late, and never went back to the start and saw them all. So when I bought the book (and at the price Amazon has it for now, how could you not get yourself a copy?), I was happy to see an Oz cake. So yes, I checked the blog archives, and... well, here it is. But wait, there's more! That post had a link to an earlier one, about Supermom trying to put on a Wizard of Oz party, and how and how her arch nemesis Diabolical Decorator of Doom almost defeated her (which I've actually featured on this blog before), right here. (Hey, I said it was a snarky blog.) Go, read, cringe but enjoy. Perhaps Jen will collect some terrific Oz cakes and compile them into one of her Sunday Sweets columns some time.

Quick cake stuff
Yes, I've been busy. And yes, I hope to catch everyone up soon. But until then, go take a look at the blog Cake Wrecks (yes, it's a blog devoted to bad cakes, and it's terrific) for their recent Wizard of Oz-themed entry.
