I need Tin Man comments!

I've surprised myself by not actually saying anything about Tin Man on my blog — and I've seen it twice now. But that's partly because I've been sorting through my own feelings about it, anyway. You see, I was asked some time ago to write an article/review about Tin Man for The Baum Bugle. Well, I turned it in today, so it should show up in an upcoming issue (possibly in 2009 or 2010, with their schedule). But that's not why I'm writing. I want to hear from you now. Tell me what you think. I want to add a sidebar with some excerpts from reviews and bloggers, and also comments from both Oz fans and non-Oz fan watchers. So here's what I need from you:

a) your name (your real name, not a screen name or login or something like that)
b) your location (city and state, or country)
c) a simple yes-or-no, are you an Oz fan?
d) a few (and I do mean few) words about what you thought of Tin Man (or, if you didn't watch it, why not — that could be interesting, too)

You can either answer in the comments, or send me an e-mail at this e-mail address. And feel free to spread the word. Also, if you know of any blogs or online reviews, let me know that, too. Thanks!

Lots of Tin Man promo videos

Besides putting a whole bunch of Tin Man promo videos herself, my wife has also found another user putting up some more background and promo videos. So between the two of them, you should get a pretty good idea of what this whole thing is about. Good thing, too, as it starts next weekend! Rather than my trying to embed all the videos, I'll just send you to the pages with these links:

More Tin Man videos

The Sci-Fi Channel has been kind enough to put some more Tin Man videos up on YouTube, and to let me know that they're there. So, here they are:

Upcoming Tin Man previews

I just caught a promo for Tin Man on the Sci Fi Channel in last night's finale of Who Wants to Be a Superhero? (and congratulations to The Defuser, I might add). It seems they're going to have previews for Tin Man scattered throughout their programming all day next Saturday, September 15. If I can figure out a way to get them, I will.

Tin Man videos!

The Sci Fi Channel is now putting up some teasers and trailer videos for Tin Man, so who am I to not do anything about it? So here they are:

  • The trailer (that I've already linked to, but this version is a little bigger and clearer)
  • D. G., a short behind-the-scenes chat with Zooey Deschanel, who is Tin Man's version of Dorothy.
  • A New Road, a longer behind-the-scenes making-of-style featurette that delves a little more deeply into what this whole thing is about, including how it is different from the book (yes, book — I don't even recall them mentioning The Movie!).

Tin Man comic preview

Remember a while ago when I mentioned the Tin Man preview comic that someone picked up for me at Comic-Con International? Well, the nice folks at the Sci Fi Channel have sent me electronic versions of the first six pages. So I put them up on a dedicated web page right here. Go ahead, click and take a look. (I want to warn you, however, that the images are huge, so they may take a while to load, especially if you have a dial-up connection.)

Tintinabulations

A couple of items of note for Tin fans. First, thanks to Bully (and his human John), I now have several copies of the Tin Man mini-comic from the San Diego Comic Con. It's small and short, and it's just a prelude to the mini-series (coming in December to the Sci-Fi Channel!), but it's nice to have. If nothing else, it's another nice item to add to my ever-growing Oz comic book collection. It was published by Virgin Comics, so maybe we'll see a bigger, more extensive comic book adaptation.

The other bit of news is this video that Laura discovered. I gather it's part of this year's Nicktoons Animation Festival. Here it is, starring our own galvinized friend:

Comic Con International '07

Nope, sorry, I couldn't make it to the annual Nerd Prom, better known as Comic Con International, or even just "San Diego," this weekend. And it's too bad, as it sounds like there was more Oz stuff going on this year than usual (and a con that size, there's always going to be Oz stuff going on there somewhere). The first I heard about it, there were announcements about "Don't walk on the yellow brick road, it's broken." Huh? Turns out my favorite little stuffed bull blogger, Bully (read about his visit to our place here and here), took pictures! Here's his report, but if you just want to see what the fuss was all about, here are the pictures:

That's the back of Bully's head in the foreground. What a guy!

Yup, the Sci-Fi Channel was advertising Tin Man right there on the floor of the San Diego Convention Center (and that earlier announcement was some sort of technical hitch that was later fixed). Sounds cool, and Bully even picked up a Tin Man mini-comic for me! (No, I don't have it yet, but I'll give a full report when I do.)

That was the big Oz stuff going on, of course, but I managed to pick up two others. Heidi MacDonald and The Beat (hmm, sounds like a band name...) took a picture of a snazzier-than-usual Eric Shanower for the Day 0 entry:

Notice all of the Oz (and Age of Bronze) goodies behind him.

Finally, a word about the Eisner Awards, the big event of the con (and the Oscars of the comics industry). Todd Klein won the award for Best Lettering yet again, which is not a surprise as he's won that thing for roughly the past forty-seven years. But this year, among the works cited that he lettered was Lost Girls.

As I type this, the con is over for yet another year, but I suspect there will be a few more bits of news dribbling out over the next few days. If I hear of anything else Ozzy, I'll let you know.

Tin Man

If this works, you should see an ad for Tin Man here. If it doesn't work, I'll replace it with screen caps later.

More Tin Man

The Sci-Fi Channel has more information up about Tin Man after a press event in Vancouver. Yes, I'm really starting to believe that this one could finally happen...

Tin Man interviews

Well, production has apparently actually begun, and the Sci-Fi Channel has a projected broadcast date, so it looks like TinMan might actually happen. Maybe I should talk about it here. Okay. Um...

Oh, hey, look at this! Sci-Fi's website has a couple of video interviews up, with stars Zooey Deschanel and Alan Cumming. So go take a look, already. But I must warn you that it starts off with an ad, and Alan Cumming has a really thick Scottish accent.
