Well, okay, there's not much Ozzy in today's cartoon by Clay Jones, but if you get lost, take a look by the Washington Monument. We owe the sharp eyes of Oz legend Ruth Berman for this one.

This Week's Oz Political Cartoon
Bill Bramhall posted this cartoon about the current state of Ukraine in the New Your Daily News the other day, and then my local paper reprinted it. So now I'm passing it along to you.

Oz Comics Roundup
My trip to North Carolina kept me busy. Then work kept me busy. It's been very hard to get caught up, but I'm doing my best. So here is one way I have to do that and close some tabs that have accumulated: A roundup of all the Oz comics I've come across over the last month or so. I'm going to keep it all brief: The date (in order), the comic (or, in the case of political cartoons, the artist and outlet when known), and a wry comment. Here we go!
- Drew Sheneman, The Star-Ledger (New Jersey), September 25: Trump decides one debate against Harris is enough. One guess what character he's portrayed as here.
- Loose Parts, September 27: A take on an old classic. Good thing it wasn't another certain green-skinned character.
- Bill Bramhall, New York Daily News, September 29: Hey, this request didn't work for Dorothy, either.
- Eek! October 2: And Jack makes his first appearance of the season!
- The Argyle Sweater, October 7: This is not an improvement over the shower, as we can see.
- The Argyle Sweater (yes, again already), October 20: I can see how she'd be triggered by that movie.

This Week's Oz Political Cartoon
It's probably a little premature, but someone in the Daily Kos community submitted this cartoon on the current Presidential candidates.

Last Week's Oz Political Cartoon
I saw this one in my local paper (which is now something I read on a tablet, so it's not made of paper any more; still trying to figure out what to call it!) and found it online, but things have kept me from blogging about it until today. But let's just say that Pat Bagley of The Salt Lake Tribune has an Ozzy slant on the current climate crisis.

Today's Oz Sports Comic
As I write this, the Packers and Lions are playing the final regular season game of this year's NFL season. If the Lions win, my Seahawks go to the playoffs. As you may be able to guess from this cartoon, Phil Hands is based in Madison, Wisconsin. Go Lions!
UPDATE, Sunday night: Well whaddya know! The Lions won! Who're the cowards now, Packers?

Oz Cartoon Round-Up (Kansas Election Edition)
With the surprising vote in Kansas last week to keep the right to an abortion in the state constitution, editorial cartoonists had a field day. And since it was in Kansas, you can guess what the topic of many of the cartoons was!
- The vote was on August 2. Dave Whamond appears to be the first out the gate, with a cartoon that very day. (Well the results were pretty clear early on, as it was nowhere near as close as most pundits thought it would be.) Two days later, Nick Anderson seems to have had a similar idea.
- The day after the vote, Clay Jones had this cartoon and blog post.
- Also the day after the vote, David Cohen had this comment from the Supreme Court.
- That same day in The New Yorker, David Ostow took a different approach, but definitely got the point across.
- And finally, Bill Bramhall did this little number for us.

This Week's Oz Political Cartoons, With Video
In case you haven't heard, Dr. Mehmet Oz is runnnig for the Senate in Pennsylvania. Well, here's an ad his opponent put out:
- Let's start with this very recent one from Drew Sheneman.
- And here's a recent one from Jeff Darcy.
- Going back to last year, Sheneman may have borrowed the idea for his cartoon from John Cole.
- But that's hardly the first time John Cole has commented on Dr. Oz.
- Cole may, in fact, have been inspired by his own 2015 cartoon.
- Going even further back, Mike Peters had a few things to say about Dr. Oz even before he entered politics.
- Peters' history with Dr. Oz goes back even further, as evidenced by this 2012 edition of Mother Goose and Grimm.

Today's Oz Political Cartoon
Okay, technically not from today, but I can't quite pin down when Gary Varvel put out this cartoon about the current oil situation. Like a lot of us, however, I suspect Varvel doesn't quite understand how the world market for petroleum actually works.

Today's Oz Political Cartoon, International Edition
Kevin Siers of the Charlotte Observer has this cogent, timely, and Ozzy comment on the differences between the Tories in the UK and their American brethren, the Republicans. Ouch!

Gary Markstein has a terrific, very Ozzy comment on what the Congressional January 6 Commision is doing right now.

Oz Comics Roundup
Yikes! With the end of the school year coming up, I've been pretty busy, so now I have two week's worth of comics to update here — and thank goodness today's a holiday, or it might be at least another week!
- The May 16 edition of The Argyle Sweater isn't particularly Ozzy, but that woman on the far left sure looks familiar!
- The Far Side website ran this old classic on May 20.
- The Hungry Tiger has been an ongoing character in Skin Horse for some time, but he's particularly prominent and in character in the May 26 edition.
- The May 26 edition of Eek! seems to deal with machinations among the witches of Oz. (Could they be talking about Mombi?)
- The political cartoonists have also been busy. Joey Weatherford on May 18 seems to misunderstand what "Over the Rainbow" is about. I think this might work better (for what I think he's trying to say) with Annie singing "Tomorrow".
- And finally (for now), Joey Wright on May 11 has some thoughts about President Biden's comments about the MAGA crowd.

Oz Comics Round-Up
No, really, I have other Ozzy things to talk about. I'm on spring break this week, so I may even get to some of them. But let's get the comics round-up out of the way tonight:
- In political comics, John Darkow had this to say about Clarence and Ginni Thomas and her role in the January 6 coup attempt.
- Poor Nick Chopper, only getting practical birthday presents in this edition of Close to Home.
- Modern technology comes to the rescue in today's edition of Eek!
- And in vintage comics, this extremely early edition showed up today on thefarside.com.

Oz Comics Round- Up
My non-Oz life has been very busy lately, so it is only just now that I have a chance to share some of the latest Oz and Oz-adjacent comicswith you:
- March 7: This edition of TrivQuiz references one of the least adjacent Oz-adjacent movies. (Hey, someone reissue it on blu-ray!)
- March 8: Ukrainian political cartoonist has .
- March 11: Specktickles has an unlikely appearance (in more ways than one) of an Oz character.
- March 14: TrivQuiz is back with a shoutout to a different Oz movie.
- March 15: I'm pretty sure this is a rerun, but the Kansas City-based comic CowTown pokes fun at its place of origin.
- March 15 (again): In a political cartoon, Drew Shenemen has this to nay about Bill Barr, out on his current book tour.
- March 16: Anothre rerun, since they all are now, but Cul de Sac has this Ozzy comment on the current state of the calendar.

Uh-oh, according to Jeff Stahler, it looks like both COVDI and the supply chain issues have hit Oz!

Yesterday's Oz Political Cartoon
It's appropriate that The Wizard of Oz was on TNT last night, because David Cohen of the Asheville Citizen-Times had this to say about the senior Senator from West Virginia.

This Week's Oz Comics Wrap-Up
Yeah, another busy week, and they've piled up:
- I dunno, does this edition of TrivQuiz count? Well, one of the albums mentioned sounds almost like The Wizard of Oz…
- John Cole has this editorial cartoon about a recently announced candidate for the Senate in Pennsylvania.
- I got into Skin Horse for it's Ozzy connections, but in this behind-the-curtain strip from today, writer Shaenon Garrity is in august company. The lead name at the top of the second column is especially well-known to Oz fans.
- Finally, I have yet to mention here a new strip that recently started on WebToons, Fleischer and the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The premise is, what if another famous fictional Kansan went to Oz instead of Dorothy? The trouble is, the character is still under copyright and trademark protection, so they can't actually say who he is. You'll just have to be a super guesser, man. I was tickled by Dorothy's cameo, and thunderstruck by the most recent strip that makes it extremely clear that this is the Oz of the books, not one made famous in any dramatized versions. Definitely bookmark this one and check it out every few days.
