A quick one this week from The Lost Tales of Oz: "The Trade: A Langwidere Story" by Mike Conway presents the story of Cari, a young woman in Ev who, not long after King Evardo XV is crowned, comes to Princess Langwidere with a proposition. Believing that she is too unattractive to attract a mate, she offers her head to Langwidere as a form of suicide. But things get interesting when Langwidere offers her a trade instead. There's an important moral in this story, but I'm not sure anyone learns it, as Cari leaves happy but not necessarily wiser, and Langwidere already knew.
