Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz: Castle Sitters

Glinda has invited Dorothy to the Witches Bazaar, which means she needs someone to keep an eye on the Great Book of Ozian Records. This magic book records everything that happens in Oz. Naturally, the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion volunteer to help. Wilhelmina sees this as a perfect opportunity, because if she can get her hands on the book, she can erase Dorothy's arrival in Oz! But since she's also going to the Bazaar, Wilhelmina entrusts Frank and Lyman to get the book for her. Since these two winged monkeys can never quite do anything right, things do not go as planned. The rest of the episode pretty much involves Frank and Lyman's various schemes to get the book (one of which involves multiple attempts with a plunger on a fishing line), and Dorothy's friends attempts to stop them without magic. It plays like a cross between an old Road Runner cartoon and Home Alone, with things getting more and more absurd before the monkeys give up. Everyone comes home from the bazaar, and the boys are worried about all the chaos they caused in Glinda's castle, but she's just happy they succeeded in keeping the book there, even after looking through it and finding out what happened. Wilhelmina, meanwhile, is also happy with all the stuff she got, and isn't so mad at Frank and Lyman. But she vows to try again before long.

So now the Book of Records gets its DatWoO counterpart. The fact that it shows what's happening instead of just writing it down in a nice touch, and the ability to rewrite Oz history opens up interesting story possibilities. We also get to see Glinda's palace, and as you might expect from the Billie Burke version, it is pink and bubble-themed. Lots of round things (even the doors and windows), pink cotton candy trees all over the place (which comes in handy both in assuaging the Lion's appetite and stopping Frank and Lyman), and handy glass balls and containers of bubble solution all over (again, which come in handy to stop a couple of flying monkeys). I don't think I'd want to stay there long, but it seems to suit this version of Glinda!
