The third and final semifinal match of this year's Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions pitted two folks we've already seen here, Catherine and Matt, against Andrew. Catherine had just gotten the first Daily Double in the Double Jeopardy! round and missed it, so she was suddenly way behind, and Matt managed to grab control of the board. He chose Show Tunes for $2000 and uncovered the other Daily Double. Matt's smart, he already had a good chunk of money, so he bet $8000, and found this clue:
Matt very confidently replied, "What is 'Defying Gravity'?" and just like that his score leapt to the point of being unreachable, and he pretty much had the rest of the game in hand. He did indeed go on to win and become the third finalist in the tournament final. Surprisingly, however, he did not win the tournament, coming in a distant second. (He still won $100,000, so I don't feel too sorry for him!)
