Oz in Jeopardy!

I appear to be having some technical difficulties with my recordings of the November 18 episode of Jeopardy! So this post won't have the nifty screen grabs I usually have when Oz clues pop up on the show. But in this game, the first semi-final of this year's Teachers Tournament, the three contestants were, from left to right, John, a math teacher from Texas; Timothy, a boarding school teacher from Massachusetts; and Katie, a fifth grade teacher from Ohio. In the Double Jeopardy! round, in the category Everybody Must Get Birthstones, the $400 clue proved to be:

JULY: LIKE DOROTHY'S SLIPPERS

Katie rang in first, and correctly responded with, "What is ruby?" She picked the $800 clue in the same category, which proved to be:

MAY: LIKE DOROTHY'S DESTINATION CITY

This time it was John who got in first, and he replied, "What is emerald?" And that was it for the Oz clues in the game. John would go on to win the match and move on to the tournament final, and eventually win the entire tournament.
