Exciting Oz news — King Rinkitink manuscript found!

King Rinkitink, the long-lost manuscript by L. Frank Baum which he later rewrote as the Oz book Rinkitink in Oz, has been found! The original manuscript, written in 1905, lay unpublished for many years in Baum's files until 1916, when he made some changes and turned it into an Oz book. Oz fans have been intrigued for years, however, by what was in the original, non-Oz manuscript, and how it was changed to make an Oz book. Well, it turns out that an old Reilly and Britton executive had a copy, and it was recently discovered in an old box in his great-granddaughter's attic. It had lain there, forgotten, for decades until the family did some spring cleaning. Already, a bidding war has broken out among publishers to be the first to publish this long-lost L. Frank Baum novel. For more details, take a look at the article here.
